About

Mission Statement

Serving the community by transforming addiction through recovery.

Background

Formerly known as 'Where Waz Eye', the now transitional rehabilitation-housing program began as a street ministry. The discovery of her son's addictions prompted her outreach to people, primarily children affected by addiction. The basic function at that time consisted of raising/ donating food and clothes to children growing up in the homes of addicted parents. The basic format consisted, mostly, of traveling to heavily drug-trafficked areas and feeding the neighborhood kids, often barbecuing hot dogs served with chips and drinks.

In 2009, Where Waz Eye evolved, acquiring its first office space that served as a treatment referral center for addicts looking for change. Cheryl was able to successfully pair addicts with programs that met their individual needs and criteria. In 2013, one of those included a friend of one of the 'Vanishing Women' to a treatment in Columbus. She remains clean and sober. Accomplishments like that previously mentioned contributed to the company acquiring its 501 C3 status in 2014, and the resulting housing branch in 2015.

To this date Cheryl's House of Hope has helped more than 385 recovering addicts get the care and support needed to move forward in their lives. Cheryl has also been featured in documentaries about women suffering through addiction such as the Spike TV series Gone: The Forgotten Women of Ohio, and Swiss TV from England.
